ACTION

IMAM Action is the advocacy arm of the Indian Muslim American Movement (IMAM), mobilizing communities across America to directly shape legislation, elections, and policy in defense of religious freedom and human rights. As a 501(c)(4) organization, IMAM Action focuses on advancing civic participation, supporting grassroots advocacy, and driving meaningful policy change at every level of government.

Advocacy Without
Limits

IMAM Action is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization established as the advocacy arm of the Indian Muslim American Movement ecosystem. While IMAM (c)(3) educates and researches, IMAM Action mobilizes communities, advances policy advocacy, and organizes lawful civic campaigns.

As a social welfare organization, IMAM Action may engage in robust lobbying and other legally permitted advocacy activities, while maintaining social welfare as its primary purpose — capabilities that are restricted or prohibited for our sister 501(c)(3) organization.

IMAM Action operates in close coordination with the Indian Muslim American Movement (IMAM), the 501(c)(3) nonprofit that conducts education, research, and community empowerment programs. Together, we form a complete movement infrastructure — one that educates and one that acts.

Donations to IMAM Action are not tax-deductible, but they are unrestricted — every dollar may be used for direct legislative advocacy, civic mobilization, and lawful issue campaigns on behalf of Indian Muslim American communities.

Our Action Priorities

Six arenas where IMAM Action deploys its unrestricted advocacy capacity to create lasting change for Muslim Americans and allied communities.

01

Counter Hindutva Influence Operations

Lobbying Congress and federal agencies to investigate and counter the influence of Hindutva-aligned actors in American civic and political spaces.

02

Religious Freedom Legislation

Advocating for strong U.S. religious freedom policies that explicitly protect Muslim minorities in India and hold foreign governments accountable.

03

Electoral
Mobilization

Registering voters, endorsing candidates with strong human rights, religious freedom, and constitutional protections records, and building a durable electoral bloc.

05

Anti-Islamophobia
Policy

Pushing for local, state, and federal policies that combat Islamophobia and institutionalized discrimination against Muslim Americans. Imamaction.

06

Transnational Repression Response

Lobbying the State Department and Congress to acknowledge and respond to transnational repression targeting Indian Muslims in the diaspora.

07

Power

Building durable coalitions with allied Muslim, South Asian, and civil rights organizations to amplify collective political power at every level of government.
